In a small town, there lived an 8-year-old boy named Ethan. During the day, Ethan was very brave. He played with his friends, rode his bike, and loved learning new things. But as soon as night fell… he became afraid of the dark. The moment the lights went out, his heart started beating fast.
Ethan asked nervously, “Mom… is someone in my room?”
His mom gently replied, “Darkness doesn’t make us weak, son… our fear makes us weak.”
But to Ethan, every shadow looked scary.
One night, strong winds were blowing. Suddenly, the power went out, and the whole house was covered in deep darkness. Ethan felt like someone was standing near the window. His throat went dry, and he quickly hid under his blanket.
Just then, his dad came to him. He placed a small flashlight in Ethan’s hand and said, “When you feel scared, don’t hide. Turn on the light… and see the truth.”
With trembling hands, Ethan turned on the flashlight. He pointed it toward the window… and saw there was no monster. It was only the shadow of a tree branch moving in the wind.
Ethan stayed quiet for a moment. Then he slowly smiled. He realized the fear wasn’t real… it was just his imagination.
The next night, Ethan turned off the lights by himself. He still felt a little scared, but this time he stayed calm. He took a deep breath and said, “I am brave.”
Slowly, his fear of the dark disappeared. Now he understood — the darkness wasn’t his enemy.
