One day, it was extremely hot. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, and the land all around was dry. A crow was very thirsty. His throat had completely dried up.
Crow:
“Oh! I am very thirsty… If I don’t find water soon, what will I do?”
He began flying over tall trees, searching for water. Soon he saw a small pond, but it was completely dried up.
Crow (sadly):
“There’s no water here either… Where should I go now?”
He kept flying ahead. After some distance, in an open area, he saw a clay pot that someone might have left behind.
Crow (hopefully):
“Maybe there is water in it!”
He sat on the edge of the pot and looked inside.
Crow (worried):
“Yes! There is water… but it is very low. My beak cannot reach it.”
He started thinking. Just then, a small sparrow came near the thirsty crow.
sparrow:
“Brother Crow, why are you so worried?”
Crow:
“I am very thirsty, but the water is too low. I don’t understand what to do.”
sparrow (encouragingly):
“If the water is low, then try to bring it up!”
The crow looked around and saw small pebbles near the pot.
Crow (excitedly):
“Yes! If I drop these pebbles into the pot, the water might rise!”
He picked up the pebbles one by one and dropped them into the pot. Slowly, the water began to rise.
Crow (happily):
“My plan is working!”
sparrow:
“See! Every problem can be solved with wisdom!”
The crow kept dropping pebbles. After a short while, the water rose high enough for him to drink easily.
Crow (with satisfaction):
“Ah! Now my thirst is quenched. If I had given up, I would have remained thirsty today.”
After drinking the water, the crow thanked the sparrow.
Crow:
“Thank you, my friend! You gave me courage.”
sparrow:
“In difficult times, staying calm is the most important thing.”
The crow and the bird flew away happily.
